History of Jesus College AFC

Jesus finished a distant second, 12 points behind an unbeaten Worcester in the 2005/06 season but struggled last season, only escaping relegation by a single point after beating Brasenose 2-1 on the last day of the season as Keble were trounced 6-2 by Worcester and condemned to relegation. The 2nd place finish of 2 years ago is the best performance of the club since the double year of 1997/98 under the captaincy of future Blues vice-captain Mark Elliott. In that season, Jesus narrowly won the league, edging Worcester into 2nd place and then played the same team in the Cuppers final. Twice Worcester went ahead only to be pegged back by goals from Richie Aseme. The game went into extra time, and after a goal-less 30 minutes penalties ensued. With Worcester 3-2 ahead after 4 penalties each it seemed that the Cuppers trophy would be heading to Worcester but when ex semi-pro 'keeper Savin saved Dave Burton's spot kick, the shoot-out went to sudden death. After Worcester's Hoffman had blasted his team's 6th penalty wide, a successful converted penalty meant Jesus had become only the 4th team to complete the double. It remains the only time Jesus have won Cuppers.
